Biography

Cindy Montoya earned her Bachelor's degree in Dance at UCLA, where she also captained the elite UCLA Dance Team. After graduation she pursued a professional career in dance and choreography. Her resume includes being a founding L.A. Laker Girl, choreographing for The Academy Awards, Mel Brook's Robin Hood: Men In Tights, Academy Award Best Movie American Beauty, Eddie Murphy's Coming to America, Paula Abdul's Live Tour, George Michael's Live Tour, and the Hispanic awards show Nosotros. She has also danced and choreographed for The Tracey Ullman Show, The Prince's Trust (special engagement performance for Prince Charles and Lady Di), and other television shows and corporate clients including Pepsi, Taco Bell, Tostitos and McDonald's. Cindy's private dance coach and choreography clients have included Dave Chappelle, Nicolette Sheridan, Dan Castellaneta, Matthew Perry, Minnie Driver, Mena Suvari, Tracey Ullman, Jim Belushi, Dan Akroyd, and Michael Bolton.

Cindy has been sharing her artistic gifts and knowledge with others for almost as long as she has been dancing. She has taught at the Orange County High School of the Arts and at Glendale College, and currently teaches at Polytechnic School in Pasadena where she has been instrumental in the growth and development of the respected Polytechnic dance program.

She is also a National Academy of Sports Medicine-certified personal trainer, and a certified Stott Pilates instructor.

Most recently, Cindy has started the Dance Outreach: Inspire & Teach service organization, dedicated to using the art of dance to foster personal growth in cognitively-challenged children and adolescents.
